Pret A Manger To Return To The City Centre

Pret A Manger will open a new shop in Sheffield this November bringing its freshly-made food and organic coffee back to the city center. The 1,200 sq ft shop will be located on Cambridge Street, on the ground floor of the new Isaacs Building. This is one of the latest additions to the Heart of the City development by Sheffield City Council and Queensberry.

Operated by franchise partner Exultant Group, this will be Pret’s third shop in Sheffield, joining a popular location in Meadowhall and a new location set to open at Meadowhall Frasers on September 25, 2024. The group plans to hire at least 15 local employees for various roles.

Pret returns to central Sheffield after sadly closing its Fargate shop during the pandemic, and will now offer more space for dine-in and grab-and-go customers, with 38 indoor and 20 outdoor seats.

The new location looks to be ideal for office workers and residents of the city centre, featuring Pret’s full menu of freshly-made sandwiches, salads, wraps, organic coffees, and teas, prepared on-site by trained baristas and kitchen staff. The shop will also introduce Pret’s autumn menu, including a new hot breakfast range, and seasonal drinks like the Pumpkin Spiced Latte.

Guy Meakin, UK Shops & Franchise Director at Pret A Manger, said:

“It’s wonderful to be bringing Pret back to Sheffield city centre and creating 15 new jobs in the local area. We know our freshly-made food and organic coffee is popular here, so we’re delighted to be opening a spacious new shop in the Heart of the City development, perfect for customers grabbing a bite on-the-go or sitting in to enjoy their Pret favourites. We can’t wait to welcome customers back when we open our doors in time for Christmas.”

This opening is part of Pret's plan to expand its reach in the UK, including growth across Yorkshire in cities like Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, and York. In collaboration with The Pret Foundation, Pret and Exultant Group will support three local charities — Impact Living, S12 Richard Taylor, and Royal Assembly —by donating surplus food daily.

Cllr Ben Miskell, Chair of the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee at Sheffield City Council, said:

“It is fantastic to welcome Pret to our incredible Heart of the City development. Their new shop is perfectly located and continues to add to the appeal of high value retail, food and beverage offering we have in the area. It has been a brilliant year so far for the city centre with the likes of Cambridge Street Collective and, more recently, Leah’s Yard opening to the public and proving incredibly popular and bringing more and more people into Sheffield. The addition of Pret continues the incredible transformation of the city centre into a greener, thriving and more vibrant place to work, live and visit.”

All we can say is Welcome back Pret!
