It’s that time of year again. While some enjoy the colder weather, the decorations going up, the markets or the general buzz of Christmas, here in Sheffield it usually means there’s some exciting news on the horizon – The first wave of artists for next year’s Tramlines Festival.
Over the weekend, a few teasers began circulating as Tramlines #spillthebeans, including a tin turning up at Sheffield Magazine HQ. Today, organisers have confirmed the headliners and a sampling of some of the other incredible artists heading to Hillsborough Park between 2th and 26th July next summer.
The festival would have to go some way to find a better way to open the festival then last year's epic performance by Pulp. We'd say they've gotten pretty close though as first up, headlining the Friday evening is a true pioneer with legendary DJ Fatboy Slim taking to the Main Stage. With era-defining tracks like 'Praise You', 'Rockafeller Skank' and 'Right Here, Right Now', the Brighton-born icon promises a sensational start to the festival with his patented big-beat energy.
Following on Saturday, Tramlines favourites Courteeners return to the park after their wet weekend in Sheffield in 2023. With a much anticipated return, and another stellar album under their belt since their last venture across the peaks, this performance promises to keep the vibes high going into the final day of the festival.
Closing the festival on Sunday is a truly landmark artist at the minute with indie stars Wolf Alice ending what promises to be a stellar weekend. The first female fronted artist to headline the Main Stage of the festival since it's move to Hillsborough Park in 2018, the London outfit will be a worthy final act to 2026. Wolf Alice are safely one of the most critically-acclaimed new UK bands of the last decade, with 3 Mercury Music Prize nominations (with one win in 2018), Brits and NME Award wins and even a Grammy nomination, and they have the discography to back this acclaim up and deliver a rousing performance.
Away from the headliners, 2026 is shaping up to be yet another strong outing for the festival. Also heading to The Sarah Nulty Main Stage for definite across the weekend will be fellow Yorkshiremen Kaiser Chiefs on Friday, another beloved Manchester outfit in Blossoms on Saturday, and another of the most exciting and accomplished bands of the last decade in Wet Leg on Sunday.
Other notable standouts over the weekend, to name just a few, include special guest appearances from The Vaccines, Everly Pregnant Brothers and The Enemy. There’s a good helping of pop performers as well with Rick Astley, Gabrielle, Brooke Combe and Vanessa Carlton appearing on the lineup. Some of the most exciting bands in the UK will also join the festival, including 3 favourites returning from last year in The Royston Club, The Clause and The K’s.
As always, this initial announcement carries a helping of local artists playing the biggest event of the year. The standout here is of course Reverend & The Makers on Sunday following on from their massive headline show at Don Valley Bowl this summer. Dotted throughout the lineup yet a again are examples of some of the best up and coming artists from the local area including triumphant returns from last year for Femur, The Rosadocs, Freddie Halkon and The Leadmill Studio Orchestra. There are plenty of other local favourites including the aforementioned Everly Pregnant Brothers, Lucy Spraggan, Sam Scherdel, Bethany Grace, Junk, Maximilian Tanner, and Milly Pye – Plenty to get your teeth into over the weekend and discover your new favourite.
As part of this year’s lineup teases, Tramlines helped to support an amazing cause by partnering with S6 Foodbank. Hundreds across the UK received specially branded tins of beans in the post, each featuring the name of a 2026 artist ahead of the official reveal. Fans were also invited to donate food to the S6 Foodbank in Hillsborough on Friday 21 November, where anyone making a contribution received one of the limited-edition tins in return. The campaign continued Tramlines’ commitment to local causes, with further activity to be explored throughout the year.
Of the campaign, Timm Cleasby, Tramlines Operations Director, said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to our amazing Tramlines community who have helped make this a record breaking year. I’m chuffed we’ve been able to highlight the brilliant S6 Foodbank in our launch campaign, they do vital work in the community and we will continue to support them. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Hillsborough Park for another huge weekend of music, comedy and fun. See you in the summer!”
Tramlines has also been shortlisted in four categories at the upcoming UK Festival Awards, with nominations for 'Inner City Festival of the Year', 'Marketing Campaign of the Year', 'Headline Performance of the Year for Pulp', and the 'Sarah Nulty Community Impact Award'.
