Nik Kershaw, singer-songwriter of such hits as ‘The Riddle’, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Good’ and ‘I Won’t Let the Sun Go Down’, has announced a "micro-anniversary tour" – celebrating fifty years of his adulthood – including a show at Sheffield’s Foundry on Thursday the 9th of July.

Kershaw broke onto the scene in 1983 at the height of the synthpop era. His 1984 debut album, Human Racing, reached number five in the album charts, spawned four charting singles, and was a platinum-seller in the UK. His career is remembered as one of the better solo new-wave acts, thanks to his thoughtful lyrics and unique craftsmanship in songwriting.

His follow-up album, The Riddle, gave us one of the best songs of the ‘80s with its title track – if you haven’t heard it before, give it a listen – we guarantee you won’t be able to get it out of your head.

In 1985, he was one of the artists who had the honour of performing at Live Aid, and in 1991, he wrote and co-produced ‘The One and Only’ for Chesney Hawkes. He’s worked alongside Elton John, Cliff Richard, Bonnie Tyler, Lulu, and too many other artists to name.

He continues to write and record, both for his own projects as well as film and television projects. His most recent album, Oxymoron, came out in 2020.

This announcement provides Sheffield a rare opportunity to see a genuine ‘80s star live in concert – so get tickets while you can.
