Two young fundraisers will join a Sheffield icon to launch this year’s premier ArcNight fireworks on Bonfire Night.

Isabella, 6, and Heidi, 8, are set to accompany Macmillan fundraising legend, John “the Man with the Pram” Burkill at Don Valley Bowl on 5 November.

The event’s organisers asked for locals to nominate “unsung heroes” and the girls were selected after being nominated by their mother for their fundraising efforts, after giving their pocket money to support S12 Community Pantry, as well as donating toys and buying practical items for people who need them.

In her nomination, their mum said: “Both have donated pocket money throughout the year to buy food for the community pantry and over the last 12 months donated toys, bought new toys and other items (gloves etc) for the same community food bank.”

ArcNight is a brand new Bonfire Night event in Sheffield from Events Collective, the creators of Illuminate the Gardens which was an annual family favourite that previously took place in the Botanical Gardens.

Bob Worm, Managing Director of Events Collective, said: “Isabella and Heidi’s story really stood out. Giving their own pocket money to help other people is something worth celebrating.

“So many people also nominated John Burkill. Bringing them together felt like a lovely way to recognise the difference people can make to their city. ArcNight is about bringing Sheffield together, and we couldn’t think of better people to help us start the fireworks.”

The new event will feature food, drink, live music and performances from local artists, as well as the launch of an incredible fireworks display, which will bring together two generations of Steel City fundraisers.

ArcNight promises to be an unforgettable event. Tickets can be purchased here: https://eventscollective.nuwebgroup.com/events/161243
