On 27 June 2025 Miles Kane played the last ever gig at the iconic Leadmill in Sheffield, and now he’s back to rock the Steel City once again!
Following the release of his sixth studio album Sunlight Into Shadows in October 2025, the new tour sees Miles play two nights at Crookes Social Club on 26th and 27th January. These Sheffield dates are part of an extensive headline tour of the UK and EU throughout January, February, and March 2026. Sheffield is just the second stop on the tour which will include a date at the prestigious Roundhouse in London at the end of January. The tour concludes in Paris on 20th March.
Anyone who was at that Leadmill gig last June will know what a brilliant live performer Miles Kane is. It was fast and frenetic, full of energy, and a setlist of anthems that was guaranteed to get everyone bouncing! Crookes Social Club will be no different, it’s always special to see a big artist in an intimate venue. Reverend and the Makers played two dates at the venue before Christmas and they will live long in the memory of everyone there.
Miles Kane is, of course, well known to Sheffielders through his association with Arctic Monkeys. Famously, he plays lead guitar on '505', the closing track on the band’s second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, which topped the chart in 2007. He’s played the song live with Arctic Monkeys several times over the years, including at Don Valley Bowl in 2011. Also in 2011, Miles sang lead vocals on 'Little Illusion Machine (Wirral Riddler)', the B-side to Arctic Monkeys single 'The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala'.
In 2007 Miles and Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner formed The Last Shadow Puppets and they released two Number 1 albums: The Age of the Understatement in 2008 and Everything You’ve Come To Expect in 2016. In 2023 Miles told me that he’d love to record a third album, but that Alex Turner was a very busy man! One day, hopefully…
As well as the aforementioned June 2025 Leadmill gig, where heperformed two songs from “Sunlight Into Shadows” live for the first time ever, Miles has played live in Sheffield many times over the years including previous Leadmill gigs in 2011, 2018, 2022, and 2023 (twice!). He played the O2 Academy in 2013, and the Tramlines Main Stage twice, in 2019 and 2024, each time receiving a brilliant reception. It’s safe to say that Miles loves Sheffield and Sheffield loves Miles!
Produced in Nashville by Dan Auerbach, frontman of The Black Keys, “Sunlight In The Shadows” was another UK Top 20 album for Miles. it features 12 tracks of psyche-infused rock n roll, mixed with classic riffs. It’s a fun, uplifting album, up there with the best of Miles’ solo work.
“All roads, over 20 years, have led here,” Miles says of his new album. “Dan and I love mixing T. Rex, Motown and The Easybeats and the result is this record. When we were chatting and sharing references, we were so similar in taste it was frightening and you can hear that shared passion through the music. I can’t wait to take it out on the road. It’s an album that needs to be played live."
There are still a few tickets available for both nights at Crookes Social Club so make sure you snap them up now and give the album a listen, this is guaranteed to be a great start to 2026!
