Attention explorers! From August 3rd until August 18th, visitors to Sheffield can embark on a city centre safari with the return of the Bricktropolis. This free event invites adventurers and Lego fans of all ages to discover 17 intricate brick-built animal themed models while getting active on an exciting trek to different parts of the city centre.
Bricktropolis is organised by Sheffield Business Improvement District and the popular event is now in its fourth year. Previous themes have included the 2022 ‘Brickosaurs’ dinosaur collection and the 2019 space themed models in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landings. The event attracts around 25,000 visitors to the city centre, supporting the local economy and showcasing the vast array of new and exciting developments in Sheffield City Centre.
Among the highlights of this year’s trail is the chance to (safely!) get close to an incredible Bengal tiger inside Primark on The Moor and encounter a majestic African lion, crafted from thousands of bricks, displayed in the new Pennine Five offices on Hawley Street, which were designed by the event’s associate sponsor RBH Properties.
To join the safari, simply visit ‘Brick Central’ at the Sheffield BID offices next to the Winter Gardens on Surrey Street and pick up a £1 map. Alternatively, you can download a free map from the event website.
Those who complete the official trail have the chance to win tickets to LEGOLAND Windsor, inclusive of travel and accommodation. In addition to the trail, visitors can enjoy various other fun activities including a ‘bricks on the beach’ feature at Sheffield by the Seaside and creative building sessions at Sheffield Cathedral and the ‘Builders Brew’ cafe opposite.
Visit the Bricktopolis website for more details, fringe events and other offers from participating Sheffield businesses here.
