Local Artist Sonni Mills 'Blooms' With New Single

Independent Barnsley singer/songwriter Sonni Mills released her latest single “Bloom” on Wednesday 23rd April, and it’s another cracker from this up-and-coming local artist.

Sonni, from Old Town, honed her craft at Barnsley Youth Choir aged 11 before playing her first gig at The Royal in Darton, aged just 13!

“Bloom” is a beautiful piece of jazz-influenced indie, and is available to stream on all the usual platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. It follows on from Sonni’s debut EP “Monochrome” which she also released independently in 2023. “Monochrome” was a top 10 hit on the iTunes Charts, and featured in Spotify’s playlist “Peach”, opening doors for Sonni to play live shows and festivals such as Live at Leeds, Sofar Sounds, and a main-stage slot at Sheffield’s Rock N Roll Circus later on this year.

In August last year Sonni played the BBC Introducing Stage at Rock N Roll Circus and wowed the audience with her big voice, catchy songs, and a great cover of Arctic Monkeys’ “Only Ones Who Know”. Her set this year on Sunday 31 August promises to be even bigger and better. The line-up is headlined by James, so make sure you get down to Don Valley Bowl earlier to see Sonni perform on what will definitely be a day to remember!
