City of Sheffield diver, Jordan Houlden was one of three divers to have been selected to complete Team GB’s diving team for the Paris Olympics taking place at the end of this month.
The 25-year-old has been chosen to compete in the individual men’s 3m springboard event after impressing at the Speedo Aquatics GB Diving Championships in May.
Houlden won silver at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre after finishing with a score of 476.20 after his excellent set of six dives. It was Rio 2016 medallist, Jack Laugher who took home gold that day and the two will both represent Team GB in the event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This announcement is a very proud moment for Sheffield, as Houlden is the second diver from the city to be chosen to compete at this years’ Olympic games joining Yasmin Harper.
The 23-year-old has confirmed that not only will she be competing in the Women’s 3m Synchro event with her partner Scarlett Mew Jensen but also, she is set to take part in the individual women’s 3m springboard event.
It will be a special summer for both Houlden and Harper, as they make their Olympic debut in their respective events and showcase their incredible talent. They will also be joined by their Sheffield Diving Head Coach, Tom Owens as he announced he will be joining the Team GB Diving coaching team in Paris.
It will be so special to see the City of Steel represented at such an iconic event and we are so excited to show our support when they compete. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games start on Friday 26th July 2024. If you want to cheer the City of Sheffield athletes on in their respective events, the full list is below.
