Zaap... and you’re in Thailand...

Zaap Thai Street Food has recently opened in Sheffield on Ecclesall Rd in Sharrow. Also based in Leeds, York, Nottingham and Newcastle, Zaap is a unique restaurant offering something more than just good Thai food.

When walking in, the vibrant quirky decor really brought the feeling of being in a street food restaurant to life. There was colour everywhere from the Tuk Tuk seating to the neon lights. We were quickly greeted by a waiter and sat on a small table in the middle of the restaurant, which had a perfect view of everything going on.

When I got seated, I was faced with a big menu and just as big a decision – what a variety!! As a foodie, it took me a while but, in the end, I went for the Gai Zaap, which consisted of deep-fried crispy chicken with mixed vegetables coated in a sweet and sour sauce, served with jasmine rice. I also ordered the mixed vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers. Yum.

Whilst waiting for my food to arrive, I enjoyed a refreshing apple juice and soaked up the wonderful atmosphere and authentic inspired Thai decor. It was amazing to watch the open kitchen where the chefs were preparing our mouthwatering food. I must say that the aromas really set my taste buds tingling.

Before I knew it, my food arrived, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The Gai Zaap tasted exceptional – it was full of flavour, presented beautifully and the portion size was just right. The spring rolls and prawn crackers were also perfect.

To round off any fantastic restaurant experience, the staff were accommodating and really pulled out all the stops in making it a pleasant experience. They were friendly, efficient, and attentive, what more could you possibly ask for?

I couldn’t be more impressed. Zaap Thai took me to the street vendors of Thailand whilst sat in the heart of Sheffield. I can't wait to go back.
