SoundBite: Brand-new, family-friendly street food market and live music event graces Train Station

Ever arrived into Sheffield train station, headed outside and felt a little disappointed by the lack of anything happening on the concourse by the water feature?

We all know that Sheffield loves a good market, and the concourse space offers an ideal location for one! We're not the only ones who've identified this though, as a brand-new family-friendly street food market with live music, SoundBite Market, opens next weekend - Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August - in this very spot!

Ideal for anyone arriving into the city on the train, tram or even into the bus interchange, the market and event will be great for commuters as well as families looking for free things to do across the summer holidays.

Today, Monday 31st July, SoundBite have announced their music lineup, which includes Alice Ede, Kid-Blu3, Louis Romegoux, Tree Trezonie and Daz Cadwallender.

The event is organised by a collection of the steel city's best event organisers in Phil McCue and Simon Tomlinson (Skyline and SoundBite organisers), Ciaron Elm (organiser of Woodseats Live), Chris Hanson (chef and founder of Blend Kitchen). The event will play host to six Sheffield-based food vendors (WHO), a stage with live music from local artists, a bar, coffee stand and family-friendly activities.

Phil McCue, Skyline and SoundBite organiser, promises that “SoundBite will showcase the best of Sheffield, with incredible independent food vendors and local musicians taking over the train station concourse to offer something completely new.”

The organisers plan to run SoundBite monthly, forging it's place on Sheffield's events calendar. They hope that if this becomes a reality, they can then use it to give back to communities across the city, linking up with different organisations and offering opportunities to underrepresented communities. It honestly sounds fantastic.

Running Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August, the first (and hopefully not last!) SoundBite Market will take place 12pm – 10pm both days, and is completely free to attend.

We couldn't be more excited to welcome this new market to the city, as a team we spend a hell of a lot of time across the city's markets each month, and this one is right on our doorstep! It's great to see new events opening up in the lesser used spaces of the city, and we hope that SoundBite will be a warm welcome to those arriving to the steel city for the first time.
